All dwellings will have some type of heating and therefore require controls to manage the temperature. Most houses in the UK have “combi” or “heating only” gas/oil boilers that provide both hot water and central heating.
“S-plan” or “Y-plan” controls are required for heating only boilers (with cylinder). Combi boilers do not require this setup. Both types of heating will need a thermostat. Typically, remote thermostats (battery operated) are commonly used and can even link to your smart phone where you can control the heating from your phone.
