Fuse Boards

Also known as “Consumer Units” in houses and “Distribution Boards” in larger buildings. These units are essential for the safe supply of electricity. They mostly always supply multiple distribution and final circuits required by the end-user. It is important that fuse boards are installed, setup and maintained correctly – keeping the building occupants safe and its operations continuous.

House dwellings will typically have 1 consumer unit supplying several circuits. These circuits are lighting, sockets, shower, heating and cooker (quite often more). The lighting circuits are often split over different floors of the dwelling.

If you have an old, plastic fuse board installed in your home, it will most likely be missing suitable protection for its final circuits. If this is the case, we recommend you get it upgraded to a BS 7671 18th Edition fire-rated unit (metal clad) with a surge protection device and RCD protection for all final circuits.

If in doubt, please enquire to arrange a survey.
